Richard was born on September 18, 1937 in Streator to Charles Wesley and Elise Marie (Wahl) Shepard.

Surviving are sisters, Donna Lowe, Joyce (John) Natt, Karen Baker, Doris Shepard and sister-in-law Marilyn Shepard and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Walter, Marvin, Marshall and Gary Shepard, sisters, Judy Fialko and Nancy Otto.

Richard attended school in Dixon.  He worked for many years at Opdyke’s as a parking attendant and was lastly employed at Streator Unlimited.  Richard attended Park Presbyterian Church.  He enjoyed walking to Grumps Restaurant every morning for coffee and visiting with friends.  Richard loved watching news and sports on TV and doing puzzles.
